Internal Transport
Zimbabwe has an excellent network of domestic flights, with connections from Harare to Buffalo Range, Bulawayo, Gweru, Hwange, Kariba, Masvingo and Victoria Falls. Light-aircraft may be chartered at Kariba and Victoria Falls for game-viewing and sightseeing flights.
Ferries run on Lake Kariba from Kariba to Mlibizi and Binga. There are also some poorly maintained rail lines, with daily trains between Bulawayo, Chiredzi, Harare, Labatse, Mutare, Plumtree, Triangle and Victoria Falls.
There is an good road network, with paved roads connecting all major towns and many rural areas, and car hire is available at airports and main hotels. However, there are often fuel shortages, so it's a good idea to keep a full tank as possible. Police road blocks are common. Speed limits are 40 km/h (25 mph) in National Parks, 120 km/h (75 mph) on open roads, and 60-80 km/h (40-50 mph) on other roads. It is an offence to continue driving when the President's motorcade passes.
There are a number of coach services, buses and minibuses serving most of the country. Coaches are usually recommended, as buses are often overcrowded and inadequately maintained. There is also a local bus network in Bulawayo and Harare. Tickets are bought in advance from booths.
