Local Media
There are no newspapers in English, but a number of local-language papers exist, such as:
- Fidokor (pro-government)
- Hurriyat (government agency publication)
- Khalq Sozi (state-run)
- Mohiyat (weekly publication)
- Narodnoye Slovo (Russian-language state-run publication)
- Ozbekistan Ozovi (ruling party publication)
- Pravda Vostoka (Russian-language state-owned publication)
Private TV networks such as Bagdad TV, MTRK, Muloqot, Bekabad TV, Aloqa-AK, Samarkand TV and Orbita TV operate alongside the state-run National Television and Radio Company. Foreign channels are carried via cable TV, which is widely available.
In addition to the stations operated by the National Television and Radio Company, there are a number of private radio stations, including Oriat FM, Uzbegim Taronasi (Tashkent), Radio Grand (Tashkent), Radio Sezam FM (Tashkent and Syrdarya regions) and Ekho Doliny FM (Fergana Valley, Tashkent and Syrdarya regions).
