Good Time to Visit
Weather
Uruguay has a temperate climate, with warm summers and mild winters. The best time to visit is summer (December-March), although at other times of the year visitors will still enjoy bright, sunny days and cool nights.
Visitors are advised to bring lightweight clothing for summer and mediumweight clothing for winter. A raincoat is also a good idea.

Festivals
The big festival for Uruguay is Carnival Week in February. Although it is officially meant to only last for the two days leading up to Ash Wednesday, it invariably runs the whole week. On 19 April is the Desembarco de los Trienta y Tres (Landing of the 33), celebrating the successful fight for independence by 33 Uruguayans against the Portuguese-Brazilian occupants. Other festivals include La Semana Criolla (Holy Week) in March and All Souls Day on 2 November.
