Getting There & Getting About

International Airports

Internal Transport

There are daily flights linking Abu Dhabi and Dubai. There are also small landing fields throughout the UAE and flights may be chartered.

All the coastal ports ate served by passenger and commercial boats. A water taxi travels across the creek between Dubai and Deira.

Cars may be hired from international car hire companies, which have offices at airports and hotels. There are good tarmac roads linking Dubai with other Northern States and the interior, and also ones that run along the west coast between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Sharjah and Ras al Khaimah, and between Sharjah and Dhaid. The speed limit is 60 to 80 kph (37-50 mph) in built-up areas and 100 to 120 kph (62-74 mph) elsewhere.

There are limited bus services linking most towns; however, many hotels run their own scheduled bus services to the beach resorts, city centre and airport. Taxis are also available, with a surcharge payable for air-conditioned vehicles. In Abu Dhabi and Al-Ain, urban journey fares are metered; fares for longer journeys should be agreed in advance.
