There is a high threat from terrorism in Sudan. Attacks could happen anywhere; they may be against Western targets or in places frequented by foreigners.

Any travel to the Eritrean border/Kassala area is not advisable, due to the presence of Eritrean and Sudanese military forces and rebel militia.

It is also not advisable to travel to:

  • Darfur (unless essential)
  • West Equatoria within 40kms of the DRC border
  • South of Juba in Central and Eastern Equatoria
  • Other parts of southern Sudan, including Juba (unless essential)
  • Malakal, the capital of the Upper Nile State
  • The rest of the Upper Nile State (unless essential)
  • Unity State
  • Nuba Mountains area
