Weather

St Vincent and the Grenadines has a tropical climate, with an average annual temperature of 25°C. Trade winds temper the hottest months of June and July. There is an average annual rainfall of 150 cm on the coast, 380 cm in the interior.

The best months to visit are between January and May, before the rains, which are heaviest from June to November. Hurricanes are also likely during this wet period.

Visitors are advised to bring lightweight clothing and waterproofs.

Festivals

This colourful island hosts many events, often involving music and dancing. Blues Festivals are held in both St Vincent and Mustique, around January and February. The Canouan Regatta celebrates the country's maritime heritage with boat races, calypso competitions and a beauty pageant. The Vincy Carnival in summer is full of street parades and calypso competitions, a mere warm-up to the Dance Festival Month of September.
