Punctuality is important and, when visiting, a token of appreciation is always welcomed. Shaking hands is a normal form of greeting. It is customary to be offered tea when visiting and it is impolite to refuse.

Western dress is suitable. For formal functions it is best to wear lightweight suits. However, visitors should be appropriately dressed when visiting a place of worship, where shoes and hats must be removed.
