Internal Transport

There are regular domestic air services to all major towns. There is no railway system and coastal shipping forms an important form of transport.

Car hire is available in Mogadishu, but it is difficult to travel outside the city by car, with sealed roads between Hargeysa and Mogadishu and between Kismayu and Mogadishu. There are some bus services between the major centres in the south, but passenger transport is almost entirely restricted to road haulage.

There are shared taxi-type services and minibuses in Mogadishu; however, their availability may be restricted outside normal working hours (Saturday to Thursday, 7am - 2pm).
