Getting There & Getting About

International Airports

Internal Transport

There are regular flights between São Tomé and Príncipe, which take approximately 40 minutes. Charter and panoramic flights are also available. There is also a limited ferry service between the two islands.

There are over 380 km (236 miles) of roads; some are asphalt, but much of the network is deteriorating. Four-wheel-drive vehicles are recommended for travelling beyond Sao Tome, as poor road surfaces and potholes may cause problems. Care should be taken driving at night, as street lighting is only available in São Tomé Town. Visitors may also use the bus network in São Tomé, and share taxis are also in operation. In Principe, the only public transport is minibus.
