Good Time to Visit
Weather
The weather is warm all year throughout the country, cooler in the mountains. The rainy seasons occur from mid-January to April and mid-October to mid-December. More information can be found in Climate in Rwanda.
Visitors are advised to bring lightweight clothing for most of the year, with warmer clothes for cooler upland evenings. Waterproofs are recommended for the two rainy seasons.
Festivals
Easter, Christmas and New Year are all celebrated as national holidays. Other annual public holidays include Democracy Day, Independence Day and Republic Day. Genocide Memorial Day, on 7 April, is a particularly emotive occasion, commemorating the savage massacres of 1994, from which the nation is still recovering.
