Local Media

The English-language press is growing, and includes publications such as Rwanda Newsline, The New Times and Rwanda Herald. Umeseso is the sister paper to Rwanda Newsline and is published in the Kinyarwanda language.

There is one state-owned television broadcaster - Television Rwandaise (TVR). The state also operates a radio station: Radio Rwanda, which broadcasts in English, French, Kinyarwanda and Swahili. The Voice of America and Deutsche Welle broadcast on FM in Kigali, whilst the BBC can be heard across Rwanda via FM transmitters in Kigali, Karongi and Butare.
