Local Media

The Moscow Times, The Moscow News (weekly) and the St Petersburg Times are printed in English. There are also many Russian-language newspapers, including:

  • Argumentiy i Faktiy - popular weekly
  • Izvestia - daily
  • Kommersant - daily, business-orientated
  • Komsomolskaya Pravda - left-leaning daily
  • Moskovskiy Komsomolets - Moscow daily
  • Nezavisimaya Gazeta - privately-owned daily
  • Novaya Gazeta - twice-weekly, known for its investigative journalism
  • Rossiyskaya Gazeta - government-owned daily
  • Trud - left-leaning daily

The state-owned Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (RTR) operates a national television network, Russia TV Channel. Other national TV networks include Channel One and NTV, whilst regional networks include Centre TV and Ren TV (Moscow). Russia Today is an international English-language news channel, broadcast via satellite.

RTR also broadcasts a national network: Radio Russia. Other radio stations include Moscow Echo, Radio Mayak, Russkoye Radio and Voice of Russia (an external service that broadcasts in English and other languages).
