Weather

Qatar has a desert climate with average temperatures of 23°C in the winter and 35°C in the summer. Spring and autumn are warm and pleasant. There is little rainfall (7.5 cm per year), most of it falling in the winter months.

Visitors are advised to bring linen and lightweight cotton clothing during summer months, with slightly warmer clothes for cooler evenings and during the winter. Rainwear may also be advisable during the winter.

Festivals

Qatar observes the feasts and festivals common all over the Muslim world. Ramadan, the month of fasting, is a particularly significant time. The dates of these events vary according to the Islamic calendar. The country's Independence Day takes place on 3 September.
