The Polish are friendly and industrious people, and are very welcoming of foreigners. Rural peasants maintain their traditional way of life.
Respect the Roman Catholic beliefs and customs, as jokes are not appreciated on this subject.
Conservative casual dress is the norm. Smoking is restricted.
Polish police take a strict approach to public drunkenness; anyone found drunk in a public place may be taken to a drying out clinic and will not be released until they have sobered up. They will be required to pay for the cost of this stay.
