Climate
Niger's subtropical climate is mainly very hot and dry. It is one of the hottest countries in the world, especially in the north, where the intense heat can cause the rain to evaporate before it hits the ground. Annual rainfall in the Air Massif is limited to about 17 cm, with the majority falling in the months of July and August.
In the south, rainfall is higher, with an annual average of 56 cm, varying from about 22 cm in Zinder to 76 cm at Niamey. As in the north, the majority of rainfall is seen in July and August, although the rainy season is from June through to September.
The weather is dry and slightly cooler from November to February. The temperature ranges from 29°C (85°F) during this dry season to 40°C (105°F) during the wet season.
