Local Media

The New Light of Myanmar and the Guardian are the English-language daily newspapers, with the state-run Myanmar Times published weekly. Local language papers include Kyehmon and Myanmar Alin.

TV Myanmar is the state-run television broadcaster, operated by Myanmar TV and Radio Department. It broadcasts in Bamar, Arakanese (Rakhine), Shan, Karen, Kachin, Kayah, Chin, Mon and English. Also run by the state is MRTV-3, and international TV service. The army runs a TV network called TV Myawady.

The Myanmar TV and Radio Department also operates Radio Myanmar, whilst City FM is an entertainment station operated by Yangon City Development Committee. There is also an opposition station based in Norway known as Democratic Voice of Burma, which broadcasts via shortwave.
