Internal Transport

Internal flights are recommended for travel to remote regions. There is also a limited rail network, with the main line running from north to south: Sukhbaatar-Darkhan-Ulaanbaatar-Sainshand.

Paved roads are only found in and around major cities. Car hire is available through tourism companies; however, since most roads are unpaved, self drive is not available. It is also worth bearing in mind that maps are poor and there are no road signs. Jeeps, camels or horses are also available for hire.

There are frequent bus services between major towns, as well as within the cities themselves.
