Getting There & Getting About

International Airports

Internal Transport

Moldova has a reasonable rail network, with connections to most parts of the country and beyond.

Buses run between large towns and cities.

Roads are generally in a poor condition outside of Chisinau. There are a few car hire companies in the capital; an International Driving Permit is required. However, you should avoid driving after dark outside Chisinau as there is little street lighting, and people and animals are often on the road.

Taxis may be found everywhere; fares should be negotiated in advance, although drivers often prefer to charge per hour.

Buses, minibuses and trolleybuses within Chisinau are cheap, but are usually unreliable and crowded. They operate from 5am to midnight, with services every 15 minutes. Tickets for trolleybuses and buses can be purchased on board the vehicle or from kiosks. Minibus tickets should be bought from the driver.
