Moldovan specialities include:

  • tocana (pork stew) served with watermelons and apples
  • mititeyi (grilled sausages with onion and pepper)
  • mamaliga (sticky maize pie) served with brinza (feta cheese)

There are over one hundred varieties of local wine, which can be excellent. Nistru brandy is a good accompaniment with desserts.
