Local Media

Although there are no newspapers in English, there are a number of papers in Arabic or French, including the following:

• Akhbar Nouakchott (daily)
• Le Calame (weekly)
• Chaab (state-run daily, in Arabic)
• L'Eveil-Hebdo (weekly)
• Horizon (state-run daily, in French)
• Nouakchott Info (daily)

There is one state-run television network - Mauritanian TV - which broadcasts programmes in Arabic, French and other local languages. The state also operates a radio network, called Radio Mauritania.
