Internal Transport
Luxemburg has an excellent network of roads and motorways, although congestion can be a problem. The speed limit is 120 kph (74 mph) on motorways; 90 kph (56 mph) outside built-up areas and 50 kph (31 mph) in built-up areas. All the main vehicle hire agencies operate in Luxembourg; the minimum driving age is 18. It is compulsory to carry €15 at all times for the payment of any on-the-spot fines.
Rail and bus services are integrated. There is at least one train every hour to every station. The InterRail One-Country Pass offers travel for 3, 4, 6 or 8 days in one month within Luxembourg, whilst the Öko Pass is a single-day ticket that offers unlimited travel on all forms of public transport, with concessions for senior citizens. Alternatively, there's the Luxembourg Card, which gives unlimited travel on public transport for a period of 1 to 3 days, with free entrance to up to 40 attractions.
Luxembourg-Ville has municipal bus services, for which single-journey flat-fare tickets may be purchased. This ticket is valid for a maximum of 10 km/6 miles (or for 1 hour) on the whole of Luxembourg's public transport network, and also allows transits between country and city buses and trains.
Taxis are plentiful but cannot be hailed in the street. They are metered, with a 25% surcharge on Sundays, and a 10% surcharge from 10pm to 6am. Drivers will expect a 10% tip.
