The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is a small landlocked country in north-western Europe, bounded to the east by Germany; to the south by France; and to the west by Belgium. It is the only Grand Duchy in the world and is the second-smallest of the European Union member states.

Luxembourg lies on the cultural divide between Romance Europe and Germanic Europe, borrowing customs from each of the distinct traditions. While French and Luxembourgish are the predominant languages in daily life and on the streets, Luxembourg remains a trilingual country; French, German and Luxembourgish are official languages.
