Local Media
The state owns and strictly controls the media in Libya, and although some international publications are available, the authorities routinely censor them and may halt their distribution. There are no newspapers available in English. Papers are controlled by either the information ministry or the Revolutionary Committees Movement and include:
- Al-Fajr al-Jadid
- Al-Jamahiriyah
- Al-Shams
- Al-Zahf Al-Akhdar
The Libyan Jamahiriyah Broadcasting Corporation is the national broadcaster, and there are no private radio or TV stations. The state-run Great Jamahiriyah TV is available terrestrially and via satellite. The two state-run radio stations are Great Jamahiriyah Radio and Voice of Africa, which is an external service offered in Arabic, English and French.
