Food & Drink

Kyrgyzstani cuisine shows some Chinese influences. Mutton is the staple meat, often cubed and grilled (shashlyk). Lipioshka, an unleavened bread is often sold on street corners. Laghman, a noodle soup with mutton and vegetables is also popular. Kyrgyz also eat horse, and are the only Central Asian people to do so.

Drinks include koumys, fermented mares milk, which is slightly alcoholic; dzarma, which is fermented barley flour; and bolo, which is fermented millet.
