Climate

Kuwait enjoys a variable climate. Summers (April to October) are extremely hot and dry with average daily high temperatures ranging from 42°C to 46°C, although the highest recorded temperature reached 51.5° C. The summers are relentlessly long, punctuated by dramatic dust storms in June and July when northwesterly winds cover the cities in sand.

In late summer, which is more humid, there are occasional sharp, brief thunderstorms. By November, summer is over, and colder winter weather sets in, dropping temperatures to as low as 0°C at night; daytime temperature is in the 15-20°C range. The spring season (March) is cool and pleasant.

Rainfall varies from 7.5 to 15 cm a year across the country, although actual rainfall has ranged from 2.5 cm a year to as much 32.5 cm. Rain falls mostly in the winter and spring.
