Culture & Etiquette
Respect all Islamic laws and customs, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. Locals mostly wear the national dress, long white robes with white headscarves, while many Kuwaiti women wear yashmaks. Women should dress modestly and men should not wear shorts, and never go shirtless.
Homosexual behaviour is illegal, as is any public display of affection between men and women. Photography near government, military and industrial sites, particularly oil fields, is forbidden.
Learning the language is greatly appreciated, while gifts from home area always welcome.
