Local Media

Although there are no English-language daily papers published in Italy, international press is easily available.

Italian daily papers include:

  • Corriere della Sera
  • Il Messaggero (Rome-based)
  • La Repubblica
  • Il Sole 24 Ore (financial paper)
  • La Stampa

The public broadcaster, Rai, operates a number of TV stations, including Rai Uno, Rai Due, Rai Tre, rolling news channel Rai News 24 and cable/satellite services. Berlusconi's Mediaset empire operates private TV stations, such as Italia 1, Rete 4 and Canale 5.

Rai also broadcasts a number of radio stations, such as the national network Radio 1, Radio 2 (entertainment-based), Radio 3 (cultural station) and GR Parlamento (parliamentary station). There are also around 2,500 commercial radio stations broadcast in Italy, some of them with national coverage. These include Radio Italia (pop music), Radio 24 (news and business) and R101 (pop music).
