Geography

At 36,120 km sq, Guinea-Bissau is nearly identical in size to Taiwan, and about half the size of Scotland. This small, tropical country lies at a low altitude; its highest point is 300 m (984 feet). The interior is savanna, whilst the coastline is swampy plain. The Bijagos Archipelago extends out to sea. Its monsoon-like rainy season alternates with periods of hot, dry harmattan winds blowing from the Sahara.
