Internal Transport

There are over 20 small internal airports offering internal flights, some serving the outlying islands. Most towns are accessible by ship, riverboats or ferry, although some services may be irregular owing to tides. Coast-hopping ferries go from the north coast to Bissau.

Car hire in Guinea-Bissau is expensive and limited to Bissau. Approximately one-fifth of the country's roads are all-weather, with a similar proportion tarred. There are local and long-distance taxis and buses.
