The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office is currently advising against all travel to the separatist regions of South Ossetia, Abkhazia and also the upper Kodori Valley (also known as upper Abkhazia). Visitors should also avoid all land borders with the Russian Federation, and exercise particular caution when travelling to Svaneti, Pankisi valley, Zugdidi and Tsalenjika districts.
