Regions
Eritrea is divided into 6 regions (or zobas) and subdivided into 55 districts (sub-zobas). The geographical extent of the regions is based on their respective hydrological properties, which is intended to provide each region with sufficient control over its agricultural capacity and eliminate historical intra-regional conflicts.
