Good Time to Visit
Weather
Equatorial Guinea has a hot and humid tropical climate all year, with heavy rainfall from April to October (16-26 cm a month), decreasing slightly between November and March to about 3-10 cm per month.
Visitors are advised to bring linens and lightweight cottons along with waterproofs.
Festivals
The country's main events coincide with Christian or traditional religious ceremonies; many of these are family or village based. Independence is celebrated on 12 October, which is when visitors will be most likely to see public events in Malabo and Bata. President's Day is celebrated on 5 June. Sorcerers still play an important role in village life and among the most fascinating celebrations is the abira, a ceremony that helps cleanse the community of evil.
