Getting There & Getting About

International Airports

Internal Transport

There are regular flights between Malabo and Bata, and light aircraft can be chartered. However, it is reported that maintenance procedures on internal flights are not always properly observed.

There are limited car hire facilities in Equatorial Guinea. Roads are of variable condition - not all are paved, and in the rainy season, some roads may only be passable in a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Roadblocks are common and travellers must be prepared to show their vehicle registration, driving licence and passport and explain their reason for travelling. Bush taxis connect Malabo with Riaba and Luba, and also run from Bata to Ebebiyin and Mongomo. Minibuses run from Bata to Mbini and Acalayong on the coastal road.

There is also a ferry between Malabo, Bata and Douala, with the trip taking about 12 hours.
