Weather

The weather in Cuba is subtropical, warm and humid all year, with an annual temperature of 25°C. the dry season runs from November to April, with most of the 138 cm average annual rainfall falling between May and October. Hurricanes can occur from August to November.

Visitors are advised to bring lightweight clothing for most of the year; Cuba's 75-95% humidity makes it unwise to wear synthetics close to the skin. Light waterproofs are advisable all year, and particularly from May to October.

Festivals

The Havana Carnival in late July and early August features parades in front of the Capitolio or along the Malecon on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. Santiago de Cuba's famous Fiesta del Fuego is in July, with theatre and dance culminating in vibrant street parades around during the last fortnight of the month. The International Festival of Latin American Film is held in Havana in December of each year.
