Internal Transport
Domestic flying is mainly limited to charter planes, although scheduled flights sometimes operate to Berbérati.
There are some good roads connecting the main towns, but as these are rarely paved, they are often impassable during the rainy season. The majority of roads require a 4-wheel-drive to render; however, visitors should note that outside the urban areas, cars are rare and spare parts may be virtually impossible to find. Travellers should also carry as large a petrol supply as possible, as deliveries to stations outside the towns are infrequent and petrol shortages are common. Self-drive car hire and chauffeur-driven cars are available. Taxis are only available in the urban areas; they do not have meters and fares must be negotiated beforehand.
Local bus services run between towns; although they are cheap, they can be an exhausting way to travel. There is also a limited bus services in Bangui on a two-zone tariff. Ferries sail from Bangui, serving towns up the Ubangi River.
