Bhutan has very few papers. Kuensel, a government news bulletin, is published weekly in English, as it the privately-published Bhutan Times. The Bhutan Review is published monthly.

There is one television station and one radio station, both state-owned by the Bhutan Broadcasting Service (BBS). Due to Bhutan's policy of isolation, television was introduced only in 1999, as the government feared that outside influences would undermine its absolute monarchy, freedom and culture.
