Local Media

There are eight daily English-language papers, including:

The Bangladesh Observer
The Daily Star
New Age
The New Nation
The Independent
The Financial Express

Weeklies include the Bangladesh Gazette, the Dhaka Courier and Holiday. There are many Bengali-language papers, such as Daily Prothom Alo, Dainik Jugantor and Dainik Ittefaq.

Bangladesh Television (BTV) is government-run, and there are also a number of private satellite and cable TV stations, such as Channel I, ATN Bangla, RTV and NTV.

The BBC World Service is available on FM in Dhaka, as is Radio Today FM, Radio Metrowave (aimed at younger listeners) and Radio Furti FM. The government-run Betar-Radio Bangladesh operates networks A, B and C from Dhaka and local services.
