Founded: Founded 1861 (in Hull) as school of art, becoming first a polytechnic then a university in 1992.

Location: 3 in Lincoln. 1 in Hull 80 miles away. Brayford Pool Campus and Cathedral Campus both in Lincoln city centre. Riseholme Campus just to the north. Hull City Campus in city centre.

Getting there: To Lincoln: by train (2 hours from London Kings Cross); bus services from Newark and Retford; by road via A1 and A46/A57. Brayford Pool and Cathedral campuses both short walk from station; shuttle bus runs between 3 Lincoln sites.
