Bradford University (Student Life)
Accommodation: Halls reasonable. Plenty of inexpensive housing in city; check shop windows and Unipol.
Eating: You can't starve in Bradford. The best curry houses in Britain; get a meal for about £3. Union bars and loads of international restaurants.
Drinking: Usual suspects eg Revolution, Walkabout and Wetherspoons; lots of local student bars and real ale pubs in town. JBs local brew.
Nightlife: SU nights: cheese, hip hop, D&B; Rio's close by.
Locals: Quite friendly. Some dodgy areas (as in any large city).
Sports: Very good, cheap sports centre on campus. Astroturf pitches on campus; playing fields 3 miles away on direct bus route.
Travel: Well placed to reach eg London, Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield. Student travel agent provides great cheap deals.
Annual living costs: The minimum amount students say you need to live on each year (covering all living expenses but excluding tuition fees) is £60 per week - reckoned to be the cheapest in the country.
Financial help: Excellent; union and university funds.
Jobs: Lots of casual work, in SU and locally (bars, shops etc). University-run JobShop helps find work. Most tutors now expect students to have jobs.
Best feature: Friendly, cosmopolitan community atmosphere.
Worst features: The atmosphere tends to suck people in - you might never leave!
