Bolton Institute (Student Life)

Accommodation: Good, comfortable halls. Plenty of private housing in town; look at institute lists, SU noticeboard and in Bolton Evening News.

Eating: Massive array of restaurants, takeaways and cafes.

Drinking: SU cheapest; many other classy bars. Bolton hosts major beer festival each October.

Nightlife: Several big clubs, some nice classy bars and delights of Manchester only 15 minutes by train.

Locals: Not bad (many other northern towns worse).

Sports: Cracking range of clubs and societies (leads to very good social life). On campus sports hall, squash courts. Local sports centres, gyms, swimming pools.

Financial help: Only in exceptional circumstances. Several on offer; see SU advice unit.

Jobs: Work if you want it: SU bar, or bars in town.

Best feature: The friendly and close atmosphere.

Worst features: Typical northern weather!
