Standard Credit Cards
The most popular of credit cards is a standard, medium interest rate card. They usually offer credit limits between £100 and £2000 although more may be available depending on your credit history.
All cards use a magnetic strip on the back to store information about the card holder and account. Some recently issued cards are also smart cards, which use a small gold microchip embedded in the front of the card for better security.
High street banks usually use a third party card issuer for branded credit cards. Rather than expecting the same customer service and loyalty incentives from your bank, you may be better off finding a cheaper card elsewhere.
