Adding Value to Your Property

If you're wanting to do a little work on your house before you sell it, there are a number of things that can instantly add value to your property. These include:

  • a garage (or addition of a double garage)
  • extensions, such as a conservatory or loft conversion
  • additional bathrooms (especially en-suites)
  • upgraded bathrooms
  • extended kitchens
  • upgraded kitchens
  • central heating
  • landscaped gardens

If you're not wanting to carry out the work yourself, simply obtaining planning permission to carry out some of the above works can also increase the value of your property considerably. For example, planning permission for an extension can add up to 15% to your property's value. This means that by spending approximately £2,000 on architect's drawings could give you an additional £25,000 on the sale of your house.
