UWIC (Student Life)

Accommodation: Most first years in halls. Plenty of good private accommodation around (noticeboards, word of mouth), from about £55 a week.

Eating: Meal on campus approx £2. JD Wetherspoons, Topo Gigio, the Savoy Sandwich Bar and Bar Ice great - range very cheap to horribly expensive.

Drinking: £1 a pint in SU bars during happy hour, £1.50+ at other times. Most pubs have students nights.

Nightlife: Excellent; student city: countless clubs, cinemas, etc.

Locals: Usually great; some trouble areas eg Bute Street, the docks, Ely. Sports: Plentiful on campus and in city.

Travel: Locally good and cheap. Student discounts on trains and coaches; student bus service to all campuses and halls of residence.

Jobs: Lots of part-time work, in city centre or in SU. Careers service runs JobShop.

Financial help: Very popular service; SU happy to help and advise applicants. Best features: The atmosphere.

Worst features: College organisation - or lack of it!
