Accommodation: Halls for 1st years, local housing plentiful (find it through estate agents, word of mouth).

Eating: Curry! Tooting is the curry centre of SW London. Also Fiorentina (good and cheap), David Wong's (expensive). In med school, £1 for bar snacks, £2.50 for canteen meal.

Drinking: SU bar - prices slashed! Pint £1.50-£1.85. Frog'n'Forget Me-Not, JJ Moons (cheap). Young's brewed nearby in Wandsworth.

Nightlife: SU events (well equipped); comedy nights, quizzes, live bands. Plenty of local clubs.

Locals: Fine.

Sports: Cheap, good on-site sports centre; cheap entry to local pool; 45-acre sports ground.

Travel: School scholarships for electives.

Financial help: Access funds and grovelling sometimes gets med school loan. Banks reasonable to healthcare professionals.

Jobs: In student bar (£4-£5 per hour); nursing temp easy (£6 per hour) and lab work during holidays.

Best features: Friendly atmosphere; curriculum; good clinical experience.

Worst features: 5 years can seem a long time!
