Accommodation: College accommodation for all years; reasonably priced.

Eating: Provision for veggies in college (£1.70 for lunch, £2.50 dinner). Great choice of places in town: Mehdi's Kebab Van (£1-£3.50), Brothers, Chutney's Indian Brasserie, PizzaExpress, Chiang Mai Kitchen.

Drinking: College bar cheaper than pubs in town.

Nightlife: Good college ents eg bops, summer ceilidhs, film screenings. Cinemas, plays, concerts and live bands in bars. Student clubs: Park End, Po Na Na's, Zodiac, Crunchies, Purple Turtle, Panic.

Locals: No real problems; just need to be generally careful.

Sports: College sports ground with squash and tennis courts; weights room in college; boathouse by river. Travel: College travel grants for academic purposes; student discount holidays and fares.

Annual living costs: The minimum amount students say you need to live on each year (covering all living expenses but excluding tuition fees) is £3000 (in college accommodation; more if living out).

Financial help: College takes this seriously. University funding and grants from college and college trusts for those in difficulty.

Jobs: Bar shifts available; students employed out of term-time by college, in library, helping with summer conferences etc (£480/hr) and can stay in college cheap.

Best features: Friendly atmosphere. Good news: Majority of college rooms have tree and fast Internet connection.
