Mansfield (Student Life)

Accommodation: Subsidised college accommodation for 2+ years. Living-out grants for second year usually in private accommodation in East Oxford (about 15 mins' walk). Some third years live in an annexe 10 rains' walk from college. Look for private accommodation on noticeboards, through college.

Eating: First rate food, the envy of other colleges, good choice with veggie options (£2.30 a meal). Some self-catering provision.

Drinking: JCR run college bar, low prices (£1.50 a pint).

Nightlife: College events - cinema, video nights, musical evenings, discos. Close to all city centre clubs and gig venues (Zodiac, The Bridge, etc).

Locals: Very friendly.

Sports: Good facilities shared with Merton.

Travel: A limited number of scholarships each year.

Financial help: College fund for students in financial difficulties. Well-intentioned but less money than other colleges.

Jobs: A few in bar, on rota basis.

Best features: Small, friendly.

Worst features: Can be slightly claustrophobic - more effort required to get out into wider university than at some colleges.
