Founded: 1458; women undergraduates first admitted 1979.

Admission: Entry by interview (pre or post A-level). Undergraduates not admitted to geography, geology or metallurgy, economics & management, earth sciences, history & economics, materials science, oriental studies or theology. Scholarships and prizes awarded each year. Organ and choral awards.

Travel grants: Funds for a number of purposes.

Library & IT facilities: Particularly strong in history, classics, PPE, law and sciences; Old Library with fine collection of Renaissance and 18th-century volumes. Separate college IT service: numerous computers accessible to library and internet (ethernet points in student accommodation). Ratio 1:30 workstations to students, 4 rooms with printers and scanners; many students bring their own computer. IT facilities open 24 hours/day; full-time computer officer.

Gate/guest hours: Gate keys issued.

Other college facilities: JCR shop, wine cellar and bar; 11 tennis courts (8 grass, 3 hard), 3 squash courts, 17 college punts, sports ground in beautiful riverside setting, with probably best cricket square in Oxford. Free membership of JCR computing scheme. Choral foundation with very strong musical tradition.

Accommodation: All undergraduates entitled to spend entire duration of course in college accommodation (380 live in), £77 per week, term time only. Community kitchens for self-catering or pay-as-youdine in Hall. Private accommodation more expensive.

Term-time work: Work outside college in term-time not normally permitted. Holiday work available in bar, visitors' scheme and library; college helps find work with references and contacts.

Financial help: Limited funds available according to need (all applicants' needs met recently).
