Founded: 1525; women undergraduates first admitted 1980.

Admission: Undergraduates admitted to all subjects except computer science; earth sciences (geology); human sciences; material sciences as single Honours; or the joint schools of archaeology/anthropology, classics/English, engineering/materials, materials/economics/management, maths/computer science, modern history/economics, modern history/English.

Largest fields of study: PPE, modern history, law, English, modern languages, classics, geography, physics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering.

Scholarships: Scholarships and other prizes awarded for meritorious work during residence. Book grants available for all undergraduates.

Travel grants: Limited assistance provided to encourage travel by undergraduates, irrespective of subject of study.

Library & IT facilities: Over 160,000 volumes; collections of early printed books and manuscripts; large law library. Separate college IT service (ratio workstations to students 1:18): 20+ computers with access to library and internet; all student rooms have internet socket. IT facilities open 24 hours/day, staff support from full-time computing officer.

Eating arrangements: All meals in hall. Breakfast and lunch available on cash payment.

Gate/guest hours: Undergraduates have own keys. Guests not admitted before 9 am, and must have left by 2 am.

Accommodation: All students in college accommodation, shared sets or bedsits: half-board at £108 per week, term time only (heat, light and laundry charges according to use). No first degree students live at home.
